The Week was included in the plan of major events of the Year of Science and Technology 2021. It is also symbolic that on 25 April the President signed a decree on the Decade of Science and Technology. Our industry will receive special attention for the whole decade.”

Types of products on display: solutions for mobile and satellite communications, radio communications, landlines, 5G, IoT, AI, AR and VR, telematics and navigation, data processing and storage centres, TV and radio broadcasting, telecom equipment and network infrastructure, etc.
Companies from St. Petersburg and Moscow had rich regional pavilions. Regional Business Support Centres and Export Support Centres organised participation of companies from the Arkhangelsk, Chelyabinsk, Kursk, Saratov, Tomsk, Ulyanovsk Oblasts and the Khabarovsk Krai.
The stand of the Tomsk Region Innovation Development Centre showed a debug board designed to teach students how to program microcontrollers and develop embedded systems for IoT. Business and Information Systems from Ulyanovsk demonstrated a virtual reality simulator for training skills in safe and quality hazardous work, as well as first aid and emergency evacuation training.
The showcase of the ERA Military Innovative Technopolis demonstrated 25 promising developments and technologies in telecommunications, software and artificial intelligence.
The special Centre of Education and Science presented higher education institutions training ICT industry specialists showcasing their educational programmes and scientific and technological developments. The participants included such leading Russian universities as Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics, Volga State University of Telecommunications and Informatics, Bonch-Bruyevich St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications, Siberian State University of Telecommunications and Informatics, Korolev Samara National Research University, and Southern Federal University.
The stand of Bonch-Bruyevich St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications presented a cyber polygon – a training ground for practicing skills to defend against current cyber threats, as well as the Digital Twin Networks and Communication Systems project and an adaptive antenna array for finding solutions in communication systems of the future.
The stand of Volga State University of Telecommunications and Informatics demonstrated scientific and technical developments created by researchers and students of the university, namely the radio-frequency identification (RFID) signal repeater, the STK-01 ultra-wide-angle TV camera, the MSTO-N modular network transport equipment, the SMOK optical cable monitoring system, and the universal signal converter of show control systems.

“Digital strategy and digital transformation is a task of almost every university. There should be a lot of staff, the staff should be good. Since 2018, we have been increasing the volume of training for the IT sector, and the number of state-funded openings continues to increase. This year, we are launching a new project for mass training and retraining of IT students, so that specialists of different professions have a large set of digital competences. The universities, which are participants in the Priority 2030 programme, will enroll at least 80,000 students in such vocational training programmes. This is an important contribution to providing the industry with qualified personnel.”
New generation developments in the field of geodata, transport and insurance telematics, geo- and transport information systems, intelligent urban mobility and high-precision satellite navigation were presented at Navitech 2022, which brought together professionals of the industry of innovative satellite solutions and services. This year one of the main topics was the Sfera programme of comprehensive development of space information technologies. ISS is a key contractor of the projects within this programme. This year the company presented the mock-up of the "Skif-D" demonstration satellite the first time. Its launch will make it possible to test new technical solutions and start deployment of the system's orbital constellation.
The Business Guide, a special format for talks at Russia’s main ICT event of the year, offered buyers every opportunity to see and evaluate all exhibited products and services in person.
Conference Programme
The main topics of this year’s programme of Russian Week of High Technologies were devoted to the import substation in the telecom and other industries.
Overall the Week offered more than 30 events with more than 300 delegates and 200 speakers.
Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin took part in the 15th International Navigation Forum. He said, “Now it is important for all of us to focus, unite and continue our joint work in the field of space science, space technologies and innovations.”
The 15th International Navigation Forum was organised by GLONASS/GNSS Forum in partnership with EXPOCENTRE AO. Its participants discussed technological and market trends in the navigation industry in Russia and the world. Special attention was paid to unmanned transport, as well as opportunities for cooperation in the current challenging environment.
The Forum, supported by Roscosmos State Corporation, included the Sfera Congress, which brought together events dedicated to the implementation of the Sfera project, development of the GLONASS system and the prospects of its establishment as a global industrial technology, satellite communication system and high-precision satellite navigation.
Dmitry Rogozin, who spoke at the session, stated that the Sfera federal project, a unique multi-satellite constellation, was currently being implemented in practice. Today the project consists of five observation and five communication constellations. He also noted the particular importance of the Sfera satellite constellations for operations in northern latitudes and the Arctic.
The congress participants also discussed satellite communication market trends, opportunities and prospects for connecting satellite and terrestrial networks for operators and users, application of low-orbit telecommunication systems in the interests of GLONASS development, geoinformation technology market trends in Russia, and other important issues.
This year more than 1,500 people from 6 countries registered to take part in the forum. More than 75 speakers made reports in different sections.
One of the key events of the Sviaz 2022 Forum was its Plenary Session on Communications Infrastructure Development as the Basis of Technological Sovereignty of Russia. The event was organised by EXPOCENTRE AO and RBC, and supported by the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, and the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education. It was moderated by Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, Chairman of the NTI Expo Organising Committee Vladimir Kononov, and RBC host Anna Gara.
The participants of the plenary session discussed state support measures, main trends in the telecom industry, prospects for the development of communication infrastructure and new generation networks in the new realities, the course for Russian software localisation and import substitution, development prospects for digitalisation of the economy, and other important topics.
The Sviaz 2022 Forum also included thematic sessions on prospects for cooperation with foreign partners, cloud technology and solutions, breakthrough technologies to safeguard the telecom and IT industries, and state and prospects of the data center industry development.
The important Strategic Session on the Digital Sovereignty – Priorities, Human Resources, Laws was organised by the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, the Expert Council on Scientific and Technological Development and Intellectual Property of the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, and EXPOCENTRE AO.
According to the session’s co-moderator Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education Vladimir Kononov, the Russian Ministry of Higher Education and Science has been constantly increasing the pace and quality of IT training in recent years.
The session participants spoke about how to create conditions for training research and technical personnel in Russia in the new realities and their self-realization in this country, how strict the legislative regulation of scientific and technical sphere should be in the new conditions, and what the transformation of the educational environment for IT professionals should look like.
One more important event of Russian Week of High Technologies was the Russian Software Forum: Effective Solutions. It was organised by the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and EXPOCENTRE AO.
The Forum was opened by the Plenary Session on the Russian IT Industry in the New Realities, which was moderated by Vladimir Kononov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education and Chairman of the NTI Expo Organising Committee.
Maxim Parshin, Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, made his report on Measures to Support the IT Industry in the Russian Federation at the plenary session.
The presentations made at the forum covered practices and tools for the substitution of foreign software and equipment, new approaches in the development of the Russian industrial software (ISPs), measures to prevent the outflow of ICT and related technology specialists, and other relevant issues.
The forum also included two thematic sessions on Import Substitution of Engineering Software in Industry and Education and Artificial Intelligence as a New Basis for the Security of the State's Critical Infrastructure.
A meeting of the IT&Digital Directors Club was held within Sviaz 2022 for the first time. It was organised in partnership with EXPOCENTRE.
Business analyst Maxim Chasovikov moderated the meeting. He spoke in detail about the activities of the club. Today, the club community brings together over 1,000 active members from across Russia, including heads of IT departments of different companies, digitalization leaders, data management services, and directors of information security. The business section was followed by a technology tour around the exhibition by IT directors.
EXPOCENTRE AO and the International Telecommunications Academy (MAC) held the International Forum of the International Telecommunication Academy MAC’2022 – Digital Transformation: Ensuring Sustainable Development. In her opening speech, Anastasia Ositis, President and Academician of the International Telecommunications Academy (MAC), Chairperson of the Professional Qualifications Council for Telecommunications, Postal Communication and Radio Engineering, noted that the forum had become particularly relevant given the need to develop new approaches to address technical and socio-economic inequalities and to shape the conditions for transition to a new reality.
Participants in the plenary session exchanged knowledge on information and communication infrastructure as the technological basis of digital transformation, oriented international technology standards, digital transformation of the Russian economy, students' readiness to build careers in high-tech industries, development of Arctic info telecommunications and their purpose in the digital transformation of the Russian economy, and other important topics.
There was also an award ceremony for the winners of the Youth Competition for Innovation and Innovative Projects in Technology, Solutions and Systems for Telecommunications, Information, Digital Development – New Generation 2021/2022.
During the sessions, industry experts discussed the digital transformation of the economy for sustainable development and preservation of social, biological and physical systems, digital transformation of the economy and social sphere, and digital transformation to reduce inequality, including for medium and small businesses. They also discussed the creation of an inter-sectoral cluster of space communication systems, and infocommunication for sustainable cities and human settlements. Particular attention was paid to the development of a national qualification system in telecommunications, postal and radio engineering.
